Directions (from the West/Bay Area):
  • Head up Hwy 80 (North Shore).
  • About 90 miles from Hwy. 5 junct. Past Kingvale, almost to Truckee. Look for the Norden/Soda Springs exit (and take it). (Note : if coming from Reno - you have to go past Truckee by about 10 miles to the Soda Springs exit).
  • Head South (right) on Donner Pass Rd. Drive through "town." Look for the Royal Gorge signs at Soda Springs Rd mid-town, at a flashing light. (Warning: town is small)
  • Turn Right on Soda Springs Rd. Follow the Royal Gorge signs over the train tracks and past the various parking areas. Less than a mile down the road, you'll see some cabins and Cascade Road. Pahatsi Road is your second right. (The third road, Cascade Road (again) is too far.)
  • Turn right on Pahatsi Rd. Go up and down to the bottom of the hill. Look for the Yuba sign post on the right, in someone's driveway. Yuba T's to the left.
  • Left on Yuba Dr. (Yuba T's into Bales Road at the cabin.) Just before this T intersection, the cabin is on the right 3Rock is the A-frame cabin on the right, at the corner of Yuba and Bales.
Other things to note:
  • The cabin has 2 queen sized beds. there are 2 pillows per each bed, and a down comforter for each.
  • Will need to take your own sheets, pillow cases, towels, wash cloths (all linens), personal grooming items. You can use whatever is in the cupboards, frig, etc.
  • Remember, you have to haul out (take it with you) all your trash.
  • The pellet stove is typically left on all weekend. We recommend you not use the highest setting (as it can overheat and trip an internal breaker). So make sure you turn it way down when you are gone for the day. the electrical baseboard heaters work really well too. It usually is way too hot about 2 am in the morning - so adjust accordingly. the beds have electrical mattress pad warmers as well.
  • in the winter (tahoe's weather) you will need to drain the drains, removing all water in sinks, shower and toilet and put down the special drain anti freeze stuff which is in the cabin. this is all explained in the green photo album.
